Footings!
March 19, 2014 No Comments on Footings!Just back from a morning on site at Beechley Drive, where the project is cracking on at a great pace. Site Manager Gary was smiling, which is a good sign as it means everything is going pretty much to plan so far!
As you’ll know, the first phase of the development is to get the new units built for Londis and the chip shop, and when I arrived this morning main focus was on getting the foundations and the footings in for these units. You can see where the trenches are for the footings from the first picture; the next one shows the team double checking the exact position for the first breeze block; and the final one shows the very first block in place – you can also see the bolts for the steel frame poking up through the concrete.
Right after I took this picture, the bricklayers were rolling up their sleeves and getting started on the retaining walls, which they’ll build up to the level of the damp proof course for the moment; also there was a lot of work going on to get the base of the building finished – I hadn’t realised how much work goes into making a floor, so I’ll save that for my next post!
Thanks for reading!
